AfterProm

The PTSA throws a huge party with prizes, games, food, and FUN after the Prom in May! It is a chemical-free environment, intended to keep students safe after Prom.

Fundraising

We plan fundraisers like the Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraiser to support the PTSA's many programs throughout the school year.

Senior Banners

Recognize your senior with a personalized banner. Order forms will be submitted in March. Banners hang in school for the month of May and then are returned to graduates.

Senior Scholarships

We offer six, $1,000 scholarships to seniors who are members of the PTSA. Committee members select each winner based on the quality of the applicant's essay. Applications are available in March.

Staff Hospitality *Committee member openings*

This committee provides meals and treats for teachers and staff several times during the school year. Food and service contributions are gladly accepted.

Reflections *OPEN*

MRHS supports celebrating the arts in education with the Reflections contest. Art categories include visual arts, literature, dance, music, film and photography. The chair is responsible for informing students, parents, and teachers of the theme, getting entry forms to students, following up, and recognizing those who participate. Watch for entry forms and due dates in the fall.

HC DrugFree

HC DrugFree provides resources and education on prevention, treatment, recovery, and health and wellness to help Howard County residents develop knowledge and skills to understand and address behavioral health, substance abuse, and mental health disorders.

College Prep Support

The PTSA has three local education partners that provide college planning and test prep services to students as they prepare for the college admission process: Global College Search Associates, The Answer Class and ScoreMoreTestPrep. Look for details in the newsletter.

Student Directory 


A Marriotts Ridge online student directory, with contact information, is provided to all MRHS families, compliments of the PTSA. Work starts in Aug and goes strong until finished and out in October-November.

Horizon Foundation *third co-chair OPEN*

The PTSA provides mental health and wellness activities under a grant from the Horizon Foundation, which supports us to help increase parents' and students' awareness of the signs and symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Speakers

The PTSA sponsors guest speakers for our students and families in partnership with Boosters and the school. Most speakers are geared toward mental health.

PTA Council of Howard County (PTACHC) 

PTACHC delegates are the most important communication link between the PTSA and PTACHC, which supports all Howard County PTAs/PTSAs with leadership development, advocacy for children's legislative issues, and timely communication about issues affecting children, families and schools.

Maintain the PTSA website as needed, no HTML experience required, easy user interface available.

Communications

Responsible for the PTSA communications and newsletter that includes news from the PTSA, the guidance office, principal, and other organizations. The editor is responsible for notifying PTSA chairs, staff, and guidance of deadlines; editing the information; and layout and design.
